Planned Power Outages – September 18, 23 & 24, 2025

Hemlock Valley Utilities will be performing essential infrastructure upgrades this month that require temporary power outages affecting the entire mountain community.

Please find the planned outage details below:

Thursday, September 18 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
🔧 Reason: Transformer Replacement

Tuesday, September 23 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
🔧 Reason: Power Pole Replacement

Wednesday, September 24 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
🔧 Reason: Power Pole Replacement

These outages are necessary to improve the safety, reliability, and long-term performance of the electrical system throughout the Hemlock Valley area.

🔌 Please Prepare:

Shut off electric heaters, stoves, and major appliances before the outage begins.

Unplug sensitive electronics to avoid potential damage.

Ensure any electrically powered medical or access devices are supported by a backup power plan.

Drinking Water Update – Test Results Clear

Due to recent concerns brought forward by homeowners, a third-party testing facility conducted a series of tests on the drinking water conditions in the resort area.

We are pleased to confirm that all tests have come back clear—there are no issues with the condition of the drinking water.

The test results have also been reviewed by FVRD Health Inspectors, who are in agreement with the findings.

We appreciate the community’s diligence and will continue to prioritize transparency and water safety at Hemlock Valley.

Power Outage Update – BC Hydro Crews On Site

Electricity Interruption Due to Tree on Power Lines

We would like to inform residents that there is currently a power outage in the area due to a tree that has come down across BC Hydro’s power lines.

BC Hydro crews are on site and working to safely restore electricity.

The current estimated time for power restoration is 4:00 PM today.

We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as needed. Thank you for your patience and understanding as the crew works to restore service safely and efficiently.

Notice: Water System Stress Test

Please be advised that on Monday, June 23, we will be conducting a stress test on the water system as part of our routine infrastructure monitoring and planning.

While we do not anticipate a full outage, there may be temporary fluctuations in water pressure or brief service interruptions during the test.

Restored-Internet Outage Update – Hemlock Valley

We are currently experiencing an internet outage due to damage to a fiber optic cable located off-mountain. The issue has been identified, and specialized equipment is now onsite. Restoration crews are actively working to resolve the problem.

Water Service Restored – Temporary Cap in Place

Water System Update

We’re pleased to inform you that the water line leak at the top of Sakwi Drive has now been successfully stopped.

As a precaution, the affected line has been temporarily capped off and will remain isolated until Monday. This allows us to continue monitoring the system and prepare for the next phase of repair work.

Water service will be affected between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
